Yield is the asking annual rent divided by the asking price for same-size apartments, before costs and vacancy; the rent listings skew furnished, so it overstates what most landlords earn (Numbeo: about 6% in the centre). Guide: property registration fees in Jordan →From offer to title deed in Amman
- Step 1
Set budget and shortlist areas
Work out your budget including fees and taxes, then shortlist neighbourhoods. Compare asking prices per square metre rather than total price, because sizes vary a lot. - Step 2
Check the title deed and zoning
Ask for the title deed and check the owner, the plot and any mortgage or lien with the Department of Lands and Survey. Confirm the zoning and that the building has its permits. - Step 3
Agree price and sign
Agree the price and sign a sales agreement. Write down who pays the registration fee and the sale tax, because buyer and seller often agree to share them. - Step 4
Get approvals and pay fees
Foreign buyers need the Interior Minister's approval first. Fees and tax are paid at the Department of Lands and Survey, which sets the estimated value they are charged on. - Step 5
Transfer at the Land Department
Buyer and seller, or their attorneys, attend the Department of Lands and Survey. Ownership passes only when the transfer is registered and the title deed is issued in the buyer's name.

What fees does a buyer pay in Jordan?
Two main charges apply to a normal sale: a land registration fee of 3% of the estimated value, set by the 2023 amendment to the registration fees law, and a property sale tax of 3%, reduced from 4%. Who pays each is agreed between buyer and seller. Agent, lawyer and valuation fees come on top. Confirm current rates with the Department of Lands and Survey. Registration fees explained →
Can foreigners buy property in Jordan?
Yes, with permission. The Minister of Interior must approve a non-Jordanian's request to buy property. Reciprocity applies, though holders of Arab nationalities are exempt, and non-Jordanians are barred from owning in border, archaeological and historic areas. The Interior Ministry says these rules have not changed since the 2023 amendments. Law No. 17 of 2026, published in the Official Gazette in September 2026 and in force from about October 2026, also lets non-Jordanians own or lease a private residence outside urban planning zones, up to 10 dunums, with the Finance Minister's approval. Is it better to buy ready or off-plan in Amman?
Ready apartments let you inspect exactly what you are paying for and move in sooner. Off-plan can offer a lower entry price or a payment plan, but you carry delivery and developer risk, so check the developer's track record, the permits and the registered title. This is general information, not financial advice. Buying off-plan in Jordan →

Yes, in some cases. Under the Cabinet's July 2026 amendments, buying property worth at least JD 200,000 from a developer or housing company, JD 300,000 from another seller, or JD 150,000 outside the Capital Governorate can earn a five-year residency. The property must be kept for five years without being sold or mortgaged, and the Department of Lands and Survey sets its value. Residency by property →
What is the rental yield in Amman?
Numbeo's contributors put gross rental yields at about 6.0% in the city centre and 5.1% outside it (updated 2 October 2026). Our own estimates from matching asking rents and asking prices run higher, for example Sweifieh about 10.0%, Abdoun about 9.5%, Khalda about 8.7%, because the rent listings skew furnished and priced at a premium, so treat them as an upper bound. Yields also move with vacancy and the price you pay. Rental yield in Amman →
