What are the property registration fees in Jordan?

A sale pays a land registration fee of up to 3% of the estimated value (apartments and homes up to 150 m² are exempt under a 2022 Department rule, with the excess at 3%) and a property sale tax of 3%, so up to 6% in official charges if both fall on you. On a JD 175,000 apartment that is about JD 10,500 in total. Buyer and seller agree who pays each, and agent and legal fees come on top.

The 2023 amendment also cuts inheritance transfers to 0.2% and sets lower rates between close relatives. Ask the Department which applies to your sale. Residency by property →
